it's only us

mitchell
, a st. george, ut native, is the ripe age of 23, and has an affinity for fly fishing. he is rarely found without an apple in hand and one side of his shirt tucked in. after graduating from dixie high school in 2008, mitchell served a two year mission for the lds church in the glorious state of arkansas. he then journeyed across the continent to play baseball for southern virginia university.

georgina
is a 21 year old book addict. also from st. george, ut, georgina finds orca whales terrifying and has never had a birthday party with balloons. there are few humans in the world who can boast an oversized sweater collection such as hers. after graduating from pine view high school, she took flight and found herself in a spacious dorm room at southern virginia university with a mini fridge and no rain coat.

emily hails from the effervescent country of texas, has soft spot for bowling, and has a two years supply of dr. pepper in her home. this 21 year old rhythmic goddess spent her yesteryears reigning over her fellow drumline champions and marching band enthusiasts. after stepping down from her throne of musical maestro, she graced southern virginia university with her glowing presence.

although mitchell and georgina grew up a mere five miles away from each other, their paths never crossed until they were two thousand miles away in virginia. they became close friends, and even point out when the other has the occasional piece of spinach in their teeth.

in february of 2011, mitchell and georgina signed up for a talent show at their university with only one song in their playbook. to their surprise they made it past the first round, which led to a very hazy night of writing a new song. after taking the illustrious award of 'honourable mention', georgina and mitchell figured their concert days had come to an end. and yet.

a wave of incredible support and enthusiasm was given by their fellow students at svu. and because of this, mitchell and georgina were asked to perform again. and again. and again. and so.

elephant shortcut was born.

after adding a few more original songs to their set list and enjoying the unpredictable roller-coaster of the musical life, mitchell and georgina decided it was time to add to their sound.

two nerve wracking cross country texts later, they had a drummer. the aforementioned emily. percussion extraordinaire.

this changed everything.

in 2011, after a summer of recording, and making a decent amount of mistakes, elephant shortcut released their first ep, made a few shirts, a facebook fanpage, and this little blog.

and here you are.
